Terms of use

The following conditions must be adhered to by all users & advertisers on The Wedding Index. By using this site you are automatically subject to, and agree to, these conditions.  

If you have any concerns or questions regarding these terms of use conditions, we are to be contacted directly, via our online contact form or in writing.  

Listing of a business on The Wedding Index does not constitute an endorsement. We have not tested the services of businesses listed, and so we cannot, and do not, vouch for their services.

The Wedding Index accepts no responsibility whatsoever for any third-party content, this includes, but is not limited to; listings within the Directory itself, Classifieds advertisements within our Shopping channels.

The Wedding Index is a copy written brand of ‘Wedding Works’, part of the UK registered partnership ‘The Hysteria Media Group’. ‘The Hysteria Media Group’ is not responsible for any losses of revenue or custom should the site not be accessible for any duration.

We cannot guarantee that you will always be able to access the website. We will not be considered liable for interruptions or delays to access, whatever the cause.

Free listings may be removed at any time, without warning.  

We do not guarantee that advertisers will receive increased custom, or traffic to their site.

Advertisers who fail to consistently provide a reciprocal link in accordance with their agreement to advertise with us, will have their listing removed without notice. 

Advertisers are responsible for the content of their adverts. This includes, but is not limited to owning the copyright, or having permission, for any photography or artwork displayed. 

Any advertiser’s content deemed, by us, to be indecent or inappropriate may be removed at any time and without prior notice. 

We reserve the right to edit or amend advert content to meet our standard listing guidelines. This includes, but is not limited to, listing description, and image size. 

We adhere to the Data Protection Act 1998 and as such handle client data in a responsible and exclusively purposeful way.  

Advertisers agree to be contacted by email with regards to all account matters, and that for the purposes of account maintenance you cannot be removed from our Mailing List. 

Subscribers to our mailing list, give us permission to promote the products & services of third party advertisers, via our own channels, where those products or services are deemed relevant or appropriate. In the event you request to be removed from our mailing list and this action for whatever reason does not occur as expected, you agree that our marketing email has been sent without the intention to inconvenience or cause any loss or other detrimental or claimable difficulties upon you, and indemnify us fully in this respect.

All visitors to this site, give permission to us to contact them, where we currently hold on record or they supply to us their email address, for the purposes of marketing our products & services to them directly by email. Due to the vast administrative implications & constraints of the Data Protection Act 1998, you accept that we are unable to supply you with a detailed explanation of how we obtained or indexed your contact information.

It is an offence prosecutable under UK & International aw to attempt any malicious actions against this Website & Group Websites. You must not misuse or gather information regarding our clients for the purposes of misuse or a competitive nature. In the event anyone is found doing so, we will take appropriate legal action.

For the purposes of security to our Clients & The Hysteria Media Group, we will monitor visitors to our site and reserve the right to record your IP address.

Listing updates

  • You should contact us directly to request amendments to your listing (text & images), this particularly applies to advertisers with a Premium listing or a listing with an image.

  • Any text or image changes will be made on a discretionary basis only, and are therefore not guaranteed.

  Paid Advertising

  • All paid advertising is non-refundable.

  • Payment (where applicable) for adverts ordered, will be due within 5 days of the advert being listed.

  • Failure to make payment within our time limits will result in an immediate suspension of services.  

  • Where advanced payment is required should we fail to receive payment within 5 business days we will typically cancel your order.

  • Typically all payments are required in advance of the listing being added.

  • You accept liability for the costs incurred in using an External Debt-Recoveries agent to recover debt against your account.

  • Should you cease to provide the services advertised with us, we are released from any obligation to supply you with advertising, and your listing will be removed.
  • Timescales quoted for listing additions are guidelines only, and can therefore not be guaranteed.
  • Should we fail to add your listing within reasonable time your Renewal Date will be amended accordingly, however you indemnify us against any potential losses as a result of your advert not being added.
  • A confirmation email is typically sent once a listing is added, however it is your responsibility to ensure your listing has been added correctly, by verifying it's presence & accuracy on our site.

Reciprocal Link Advertising

  • Our basic reciprocal link exchange policy requires a link to http://www.theweddingindex.co.uk with a link description equivalent to “The Wedding Index – links to other professional wedding suppliers”.

  • Links must be placed on an easily accessible & relevant page(s) for your site visitors to view and action.

  • The website the link is placed on must also be the website advertised within your listing on our site.

  • In the event that you request an image to be added to your listing, it is a condition that you place at least one of the official ‘The Wedding Index’ banners on your site, on a page which is easily accessible & relevant to your site visitors to view and action.

  • In the event that you request an upgrade to a premium listing (with or without an image), you must place at least one of the official ‘The Wedding Index’ banners on your site, specifically on the entrance/home/index page (the first page seen by visitors) of your site, which is easily accessible & relevant to your site visitors to view and action, in addition to a link to http://www.theweddingindex.co.uk on at least one other page within your website.

  • Reciprocal links will be routinely examined to ensure compliance. Failure to display the appropriate reciprocal linking on your site will result in your listing be removed.

  • Broken links will be routinely examined, in the event our link to your website no longer functions (eg: you have changed website address or are no longer operating a website), your listing will be removed.

  • It is not our responsibility to ensure we are providing a reciprocal link to you, you accept that the ‘The Wedding Index’ will not make any financial remuneration in the event that you are promoting our site without reciprocation.  

  • Timescales quoted for listing additions are guidelines only, and can therefore not be guaranteed.

Multiple Region & Category Advertising Submission Rules

  • Unless otherwise agreed with us directly, you may not submit your free listing to multiple regions/counties or categories, as our basic reciprocal link exchange policy applies to only one two-way link per business/website.

  • Multiple submissions will be rejected, and may result in banning from the site. It is in your interests to make arrangements with us if you’d like to be entered into multiple regions/counties or multiple categories, this can often be arranged for a small fee.  The purpose of this policy is to ensure our site continues to offer a useful & relevant service to our visitors. 

Inappropriate/irrelevant listing or content Submission

  • Listings considered to be irrelevant, or not appropriate to the category they are submitted to, will be rejected.

  • Continuous submission of irrelevant or inappropriate listings or content, may result in banning from the site.

  • We reserve the right to monitor users on our site who may make multiple submission attempts, for the purposes of banning them from the site. This includes, but is not limited to, IP address tracking. 

Listing Submission Guidelines – failure to comply with these guidelines may result in your listing being rejected or deleted

  • Listings may only be submitted to one appropriate category in one region.

  • Listing descriptions should not exceed the stated guideline limits.

  • Listing descriptions should not contain your email address

  • Listing descriptions should not contain pricing information (alternative text such as “Budget” or “reasonably priced” may be used)

  • You must supply us with a valid email address so that we may contact you to confirm the approval or rejection of your listing 

Banner Advertising

  • Banners will only appear on the site for contracted number of impressions/displays.

  • An impression/displays is understood to mean the viewing of the banner by a Website visitor.

  • We do not guarantee that the banner will not be shown to the same visitor on multiple occasions, this is dependent upon how many current banner advertisers there are.

  • You must own or have permission to use the copyright for any artwork displayed in the banner.

  • The Wedding Index accepts no liability for the content of banners displayed on this Website. 

Refunds Policy

  • All advertising is non-refundable.

  • In certain circumstances, where there has been an error or genuine misunderstanding, we may agree or offer a discretionary partial or full refund. However in this instance, any refund made will be less the transaction fees applied by the Payment Processor, and where a refund is to be made by cheque, will be less a £5 administrative fee.

We reserve the right to vary policy & scope of these conditions without notice at any time. All changes will be reflected on this web page.
